Data we collect

None. We do not collect, transmit, store, sell or share any personal data. Specifically, Offlingo does not collect:

• The text you translate, or its translation
• Your name, email address, phone number or any account identifier
• Your location, contacts, photos, microphone or camera input
• Advertising identifiers, device fingerprints or usage analytics
• Crash reports or diagnostic telemetry

How translation works

Translation runs on models that live on your device, using Apple's Translation framework. When you choose a language pair, iOS downloads that pair's models once. From then on translation happens entirely on your iPhone, with no network connection required and no request carrying your text anywhere.

The optional language model

Offlingo can rewrite a translation in a different register and explain how a phrase works. On iPhones that support Apple Intelligence, this uses the model already built into iOS. On other iPhones you may choose to download an open-weights model (Qwen 3 4B) once, roughly 2.3 GB, which then runs on your device's GPU.

That download is optional, is initiated only when you tap to start it, and is fetched from Hugging Face. No information about you or your translations is sent as part of it. You can remove the model at any time in Settings.

What is stored on your device

• Translation history — kept in the app's private container so you can search and re-use past translations.
• Preferences — your chosen languages and settings.
• Downloaded models — the language packs and, if you chose it, the optional model.

None of this is transmitted anywhere. Clearing history in Settings deletes every saved translation, including starred ones. Deleting the app removes all of it.

Permissions

Offlingo requests no system permissions. It does not ask for the microphone, camera, photo library, contacts, location, or notifications. Text-to-speech uses voices already present on your device and needs no permission.

Third parties

Offlingo contains no third-party analytics, advertising, attribution or crash-reporting SDKs. No data is shared with any third party, because none is collected.

Network activity

The app makes no network requests during normal use. The only network activity that can occur is the one-time model downloads described above, each initiated by you.

Children

Offlingo is suitable for all ages and collects no data from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published on this page with a new date. Any change that affected what the app does with your data would be described here before it shipped.
